Hey everyone.
A little bit of house-keeping. The podcast is taking a shift in direction and the name is changing from ‘Robust Health Radio’ to ‘Lupus Links.’
As some of you know I’ve decided to immerse myself in everything rheumatology and autoimmune. My sense of all of it is that despite the amazing job many clinicians are doing out there in this setting, there’s still some deficiencies in understanding on the part of most patients, including those who’ve interacted with one or more rheumatologists. And then of course, there’s a huge need for more man/woman-power in this field.
It won’t be like most rheumatology podcasts out there, which are more geared towards clinicians, reviewing trials on the latest drug treatments, re-evaluating past ones and reviewing practice guidelines. And so, the objective of the podcast is to fill in those information gaps and offer other solutions for you as a patient or as a family member or friend of someone dealing with these issues.
Don’t let the name fool you… the podcast isn’t only going to cover lupus. I chose that name because of my journey with my very first few patients and since lupus is considered one of major springboards for which we have expand our understanding of autoimmunity in general.
The podcast will also be giving love to those with other autoimmune disorders including rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthropathy, thyroid disease, fibromyalgia, myositis and more. And of course, all of the fun stuff we as health consumers love hearing about, the latest in nutrition, healthy lifestyle, supplements, herbs, fitness and so on.
We’ll be rolling out the first episode real soon here with rheumatologist, Dr. Maggie Cadet who will be teaching us all about lupus, since it is lupus awareness month.
